First Behavioral Macroeconomics Workshop: New Approaches to Macro-Financial Instability and InequalityDate: 15.-16. June 2018
Submission Deadline: Saturday, 31. March 2018
The Bamberg Research Group on Behavioral Macroeconomics and the Macroeconomic Policy Institute (IMK) are pleased to host their first Behavioral Macroeconomics Workshop on the 15th and 16th of June 2018, on “New Approaches to Macro-Financial Instability and Inequality”. The workshop will take place at the University of Bamberg, Germany. Confirmed Keynote speakers are:
William Branch (University of California, Irvine) and Thomas Lux (Christian-Albrechts-Universität, Kiel)
Traditional methods and theoretical frameworks, such as DSGE models with a representative agent with fully rational expectations, have been found unable to explain recent economic developments in a satisfactory manner.  In this workshop we want to highlight new and alternative methods that can explain issues such as macro-financial instability and inequality, and that can be used for the design of economic policies to cope with these problems. We particularly encourage submissions in the following topics:
  • Systemic risk and macro-financial instability
  • Political and economic aspects of inequality
  •  Bounded rationality and heterogeneity in macroeconomic models
  • Agent based macro-financial models
  •  Laboratory experiments on macroeconomics and financial markets
  • Heterogeneous expectations and nonlinear economic dynamics
  • Regulation and control of complex economic systems
Presenting authors are expected to act as discussants of another paper in their session. Partial financial support for authors of accepted contributions is possible on an individual basis.
