Math in the Economics Classroom: an Experiment with iMath

9/22/2018

Here.

This article reports the results of our research regarding introduction of mathematical tutorial software to enhance math skills among students taking economics courses. Math You Need (MYN) is designed to tackle difficulties with math concepts that often prevent students from successfully completing introductory economics courses. MYN has ten modules on core math concepts (percentage change, the slope, marginal analysis, modeling, understanding graphs, graphing data, rearranging equations, units of analysis, solving simultaneous equations, variables and parameters). Each module provides students with information on the mathematical concept and why and how they are used in economics.
