BTW regarding Romer's history of macroeconomics - soon after I started working in the Australian Reserve Bank's Special Projects Section in 1972 I realized to my horror that their vast economic simulation model was worthless. So I went to grad school at Rochester (very Chicago influenced in macroeconomics) hoping to find the true way... Oh well.
